Me.

I am a third year PhD student in the Passmore Lab in the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology, Cambridge, UK. My research interests lie in using structural biology and in vitro biochemical and biophysical techniques to study macromolecular complexes. In doing so, we can elucidate the mechanisms underlying life’s fundamental processes and hence use this knowledge to understand the basis of disease.

My structure. The Pan2 exonuclease bound to poly(A) RNA, its cognate substrate. PDB: 6R9J.

“It is about the real value of a real education, which has almost nothing to do with knowledge, and everything to do with simple awareness; awareness of what is so real and essential, so hidden in plain sight all around us, all the time, that we have to keep reminding ourselves over and over: ‘This is water. This is water.’” – David Foster Wallace
